Veterinary Technician: Currently hiring!

A Veterinary Technician for the Meowtropolitan Foundation assists with routine health checks and shares observations and recommendations about health-related concerns as they arise.

An ideal Veterinary Technician is a compassionate cat person with thorough experience in cat handling and feline physiology, who is highly organized and detail-oriented, has excellent communication skills, and is passionate about supporting small nonprofit organizations focused on animal welfare like the Meowtropolitan Foundation.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Veterinary Technician license strongly preferred, or currently pursuing licensure

  • Experience and confidence performing the following with cats:

    • Low-stress feline handling techniques

    • Blood draws

    • Anal gland expression

    • Vaccine administration

    • Oral medication administration

    • Subcutaneous fluid administration

  • Strong knowledge of feline physiology, health, and behavior

  • Compassionate, dependable, organized, and detail-oriented

  • Passionate about supporting small nonprofit organizations focused on animal welfare

Duties:

  • Assist with weekly wellness checks for all lounge cats, including:

    • Recording weights

    • Checking skin, coat, eyes, ears, teeth, and gums

    • Recording observations and reporting concerns

    • Trimming nails

  • Perform more in-depth monthly health checks, including:

    • Hydration assessment

    • Respiration and heart rate monitoring

    • Lymph node checks

  • Share experience-based observations and recommendations regarding feline health concerns under veterinary oversight

  • Express anal glands as needed

  • Administer FVRCP vaccines as needed

  • Administer oral medications as needed

  • Administer subcutaneous fluids as needed

  • Draw blood samples for diagnostic testing as needed

Part-time, 2-4 hours per week
1099 Contractor position starting at $30/hour depending on experience

Purrista: No available positions

A purrista at Seattle Meowtropolitan is responsible for checking-in guests for their reservation in the cat lounge, preparing and serving drinks, snacks from behind the bar and working the retail section. Experience in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment is required. The use of cat puns is encouraged.

Requirements:

  • Running errands when needed 

  • Working during special events when needed

  • Being available to work overtime if needed

  • Excellent verbal communication and social skills

  • Well-organized and clean

  • Standing for many hours per shift

  • Ability to actively to perform coffee-making duties with finesse and dexterity

  • Regular lifting of heavy things, up to 40lbs

  • Handling food and hot beverages

Duties:

  • Educate customers on the drinks and snacks available

  • Maintain an organized workspace 

  • Prepare drinks according to company recipes and procedures

  • Understand the different flavors and attributes of available products

  • Keep coffee bar, mini-fridge, and immediate workspace adequately stocked and supplied

  • Ring sales orders accurately

  • Promote the cat lounge experience

  • Give customers cat lounge entrance instructions and point out the rules

Feline Guardian: No available positions

An ideal Feline Guardian is an outgoing, personable, knowledgeable purrson with feline handling experience and knowledge.

A Feline Guardian at the Seattle Meowtropolitan is responsible for serving customers and felines with respect and kindness. At Seattle Meowtropolitan, your knowledge, patience, loving nature, and enthusiastic passion for working with cats will ensure that we provide a nurturing and fulfilling environment in the cat lounge.

Requirements:

  • Professional or volunteer experience working with cats

  • Customer service skills and a passion for our feline friends

  • Be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment

  • Being available to work overtime if needed

  • Excellent verbal communication and social skills

  • Well-organized and clean

  • Standing for many hours per shift

  • Regular lifting of heavy things, up to 40lbs

Duties:

  • Cat care: taking care of cats’ physical, mental, and emotional needs by following the daily behavior and physical observation protocol. This includes following daily feeding schedules and administering any necessary medications for the cats.

  • Lounge care: Maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the cat lounge according to protocols and regulations to ensure the wellbeing of the cats and our customers. This includes scooping litter boxes and restocking supplies. Lots and lots of cleaning!

  • Customer care: Educating customers on cat care, handling, and behavior, as well as helping customers enjoy the cat lounge experience by providing excellent customer service with patience and friendliness.

YOU WILL BE WORKING WITH CATS - if you have any complications working with felines, this position may not be right for you.

We are looking for extremely friendly, happy-go-lucky, hard-working, joke-making cat people to join our team. All staff must be able to work well with cats and humans.

Position: In charge of daily cat care (feeding, cleaning, etc) as well as ensuring all guests in the cat room are having a great time and the cats are being treated with love. Experience with cats in a professional environment is preferred but not required.
